Parodontology

Plaque and tartar are the most common cause of periodontitis - gum disease - and in advanced cases this can spread to the bone in which the tooth is fixed. Periodontitis is a disease that is treatable. If untreated, it may persist for a long time without significant problems, but ultimately be responsible for the loss of a seemingly healthy tooth.

Alarming symptoms, that may alert you that all is not well, include bleeding gums and bad breath. The solution is simple. Prompt removal of plaque and tartar can usually stop the process and prevent tooth loss.

The aim of parodontology is, among other things, to provide important information on how to prevent periodontitis or protect against its re-occurrence. In advanced cases, it may be necessary to treat it surgically.
